saturday snack / 003

February 22, 2014

I have found that one of the hardest parts of trying to make healthier choices, when it comes to what you eat, is the in between meals stage: snacks. To make it easier for you, each week I will bring you a new healthy option for snacking.
For this week's Saturday snack I'm highlighting one of my all time favorites: Peanut butter fluff. Yes I realize 2 out of the 3 snacks I have done have included peanut butter. Peanut Butter is delicious. If you have a peanut allergy there are other tasty options such as sunflower seed butter that would work just as well in place of peanut butter for this snack + previous snacks.

Peanut Butter Fluff: 2 parts 0% fat plain greek yogurt (about 2 Tablespoons) to 1 part peanut butter (about 1 Tablespoon). Add in 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and mix together. Serve with apple slices.

• Serving Size: 1 serving of PB fluff + 1 apple • 175 Calories • 8g of fat • 2g saturated fat • 1g cholesterol • 87mg sodium • 226mg potassium • 22g carbs • 4g fiber • 15g sugar • 7g protein •

The 0% fat plain greek yogurt is a good source of protein and the apple is a great source of fiber to keep you full until your next meal. Enjoy!
